As the memorial day weekend comes to an end, Comic Fest (formerly known as ComicCon) Phoenix was a success for all vendors involved. SpaceWars had its own presence at the Southwest Video Game Showcase, where many local developers had games for attendants to try out and enjoy. The SpaceWars SLR McLaren was also on display outside near the entrance. An influx of new players have signed up, and add to the community currently playing on the Trifid I server.
A new, much smaller galaxy has been created in addition to the main server (60 sectors instead of 12,000). It is specifically for new joiners who want to play on a 'safe' combat environment with smaller battlefields and no hardcore veterans to deal with. It is, however, limited to Class I through IV (Frigate) warships. It is recommended that new players start with this server, and try conquering a few sectors, upgrading ships & officers, and learn the intricacies of combat
All players with significant rank and achievements at end of server are awarded legacy medals, and along with the medals credit bonuses that are carried over for them to use in future seasons. All credits are retained permanently in a player's account, which can be used to unlock unique ships for future servers.
Season two was much more hard-fought than the previous season, with both sides in an extended tug of war that lasted three months. It looked like Sol was winning, but halfway through the season Genari took back a lot of territory. Then Sol seemed to get a second wind with a strong retaliation, but eventually succumbed to the Genari onslaught. Late game Sol ships tend to be more powerful, but some good strategies (and some very hardcore players) managed to bring Genari to a vi
